FAQ

  • What is Parents Plus?
At Lehigh University, we are testing a free program called Parents Plus. Parents Plus is an online program that teaches parents how to help their children with their language skills. You learn through sessions on an app and a personal coach. Parents complete Parents Plus at any convenient location or time (daytime, evenings, or weekends).
  • How do I know if Parents Plus is a good fit for my child?
The Parents Plus program is for parents who have preschool children (ages 3-5 years) who have limited language skills. Children may be receiving speech-language services already but they do not have to be. Children should speak in at least 2 word sentences on their own and so that others typically understand them. Families should speak primarily to their children in English. After filling out the interest form, one of our team members will call you to learn more about your child. Then, if you agree, we will send one of our team members to your home to do some language activities with your child. If you want to learn more, fill out our Google form or contact us via email at inpplus@lehigh.edu
  • How do you decide who gets matched to this research study?
With your permission, we will do some fun tasks with your child for about 60 minutes to see what their language level is. We will then let you know if Parents Plus is a good match for your child and see if you are interested in learning more about participating in Parents Plus.
  • Do I need to travel to Lehigh or anywhere else for this program?
No! We will evaluate your child at your home or a location of your choosing. For the Parents Plus program, you do everything through the app at your home and at your preferred times.
  • Do you have incentives for participating in this research study?
Yes! If you and your child participate in the study, you will receive an iPad or $300 of Amazon gift cards. You will also receive at $15 Amazon gift card for having your child initially evaluated to see if Parents Plus is a good fit.
  • How long is the study?
    15 weeks
